The late iconic rapper Rikhado also known as “Riky Rick” Makhado. Has today been cremated and laid to rest. This was after an emotional funeral in Johannesburg this morning.

The 34-year-old rapper took his own life last Wednesday. Riky’s family and close friends paid their last respect. They dressed in white, matching the coffin in which the rapper’s body lay. He was then cremated after the private service. His memorial service will be held on Friday, March 4.

After the cremation Riky Rick’s wife Bianca Naidoo. She gave an emotional tribute to her late husband. “As a partner he always encouraged me to come out of my shell. allow myself to step into the light and conquer my shyness. He wanted me to shine. He always wanted me to figure out what I wanted to do. He wanted me to find that which set my soul on fire. Little did he know that he was it.”

“I was put in his life to love him, care for him. And help him on his journey to fulfill part of his purpose. Ours was a deep, pure love. Part of my role was to help. In elevating and enable him to shine his light into the world. His love for me was honest, authentic and transcendent. As mine was for him too. ” she eulogised.

Riky Rick’s mother Louisa Zondo also poured her heart out to her son. “My Riky, words no longer have any relevance. There is nothing to be said at this point. Because my Riky Rick you are no longer this or that. you are everything. I want to thank you for the opportunity to be your mother. I want to thank you for the lasting lessons learnt from your vulnerability and I want you to now rest. I want you to go and meet your freedom. We will carry on your legacy. may it be well with you my son. Lala ngoxolo mtanam,” she bade him farewell.

It was truly an emotion send off, for the legend. Emotional faces all over the place. So sad may his soul rest in peace.
