Harmonize & Chile One’s “Hichilema” Campaign Song Sparks Mixed Reactions in Zambia
Tanzanian music superstar Harmonize has sparked huge debate in Zambia after releasing the political campaign song “Hichilema” alongside Chile One Mr Zambia in support of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND). The song, which praises President Hakainde Hichilema ahead of the 2026 elections, has received mixed reactions from music fans and citizens across the country.
While some supporters have praised the collaboration for its catchy sound and strong message, many Zambians on social media have criticized the project, arguing that musicians should stay away from politics. Rumours circulating online also claim that Harmonize was allegedly paid around K2.5 million for the campaign song, although no official confirmation has been provided by the artist or UPND officials. Despite the controversy, “Hichilema” continues to gain attention online, making it one of the most talked-about political songs in Zambia this year.
